Coffee connection

The Tamaqua Area Ministerium is sponsoring a three-part series as part of its community ministry program, titled "Coffee and Connection." The series is designed to encourage free and open conversations about God, the church and individuals.The theme will be "Things We Wish Jesus Hadn't Said." Each meeting will focus on a different message.The next meeting will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at Vonz Restaurant on Tuesday. The theme will be "Love your enemy." The third session will be held on April 24 (Give away everything you have).The restaurant is located in the train station.No preregistration is required and the public is welcome.Artist receptionThe Tamaqua Community Art Center will host a photo exhibit by former Tamaqua resident R. Thomas Berner. A meet-and-greet session will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.Berner's current exhibit is titled "60 Years Later."The art center is located at 125 Pine St., Tamaqua.Calvary EvangelicalThe Rev. Ed Bean will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sarah Hohner, representing the CareNET Ministry of Schuylkill County, will be a guest speaker. Sunday school classes are at 9:15 a.m.Also this Sunday, a Bible study session based on the book of Jonah will be held at 6:30 p.m.Next week's community Lenten service, sponsored by the New Ringgold Ministerium, will be held at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Church of the Lewistown Valley. A hymn sing will be held before the service.A family movie night will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. The featured presentation will be part two of the series "Left Behind" starring Kirk Cameron.St. Peter's UnionSunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. Sunday school will meet at 10:15 a.m.Also Sunday, confirmation class will meet at 11:30 a.m.; bell choir rehearses at 6 p.m.; Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cubs and Cadets meet at 6 p.m.Activities for next week include: Monday, picnic planning session at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, midweek Lenten service, 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m., cherub choir rehearses at 6:30, junior choir practice at 7 p.m., senior choir meets at 7:30 p.m.On March 29, St. Peter's will host an AmericanCancer Society survivors breakfast from 8

a.m.to noon, palms will bedistributed at the 9 a.m. service and the Confirmation class will present the "Passion of Christ" at 11:30 a.m.St. John LutheranThe Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Sunday school class will meet at 10:30 a.m.Also on Sunday, the Confirmation and First Communion classes will meet at 10:30 a.m. and the bell choir will rehearse at noon.Activities for next week include: Tuesday, coffee and conversation, 2 p.m., Vonz Restaurant; Wednesday, midweek Lenten service, 7 p.m., St. John, chancel choir rehearsal after the service; Thursday, angel choir rehearses at 6 p.m., shepherd choir meets at 6:30 p.m.
