A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence, and other summary counts, following a traffic stop.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said Sherman Anthony Hopkinson, 27, of 3141 Carobeth Drive, Tobyhanna, was stopped at 2:28 a.m. on March 7 along Route 115 in Tobyhanna Township for several motor vehicle code violations.In speaking with Hopkinson, police detected signs of intoxication. Hopkinson denied drinking, stating he was the designated driver for three others in the vehicle.Hopkinson failed field sobriety tests and was transported to the county DUI center where he refused to submit to a blood test.He has been charged with DUI and summary offenses of careless driving, driving on roadways laned for traffic, and sun screening and other materials prohibited. His vehicle was impounded and the three occupants secured a ride home with another sober driver, police said.Police noted Hopkinson will lose his license for a year for the refusal.
