State police at Fern Ridge have charged two people with the theft of an AT&T GoPhone package.

Deanne Lane of Effort and Scott Brunner of Bangor were charged with retail theft after they tried to steal the phone from the CVS drugstore at routes 115 and 209 in Brodheadsville at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.According to police, the two purchased a prescription and then walked to the front register, where Brunner cut open the package. He removed the phone and handed it to Lane, who concealed it in her motorcycle helmet and left the store.
