Following a sixth place finish at the Southeast Regional, Goida went 1-2 in Hershey. McHugh went 2-2 at the Southeast Regional with a tough draw, and did not advance to Hershey, though he was an alternate. McHugh remains above Goida due to the fact that he beat him in all three of their meetings this season. Arnold went 1-2 at the Southeast Regional, as did Sorensen, who made it to the tournament after North Schuylkill's Brady Mickatavage scratched. Moyer lost his first match at regionals, but bounced back to win his next two. His season ended when he lost by technical fall to Bishop McDevitt's Jaque Jackson.182 - 1. Connor Frey, Lehighton, Jr. (38-6); 2 Jared Mooney, Palmerton, So. (28-15); 3. Chad Cederberg, Northern Lehigh, Jr. (13-12).Notes - Frey advanced to his second straight state tournament after taking second at the Southeast Regional to Bermudian Springs' Colton Dull. The junior bounced back after a first round loss at the PIAA Championships to take seventh place, while also setting the school record for wins in a season. Overall, Frey went 3-2 in the tournament, with his losses coming by one point to the eventual fifth-place finisher, Brett Beltz of South Fayette, and by two points in overtime to Pope John Paul's Michael Collins, who finished fourth. He also captured his 100th victory during the tournament. One would think Frey has plenty of momentum, and motivation, heading into his senior year.
