March 7, 1979 Cindy Miller and Barb Koch both turn in outstanding efforts to give Tamaqua to a 76-57 victory over Catasauqua in the District 11 Class AA girls basketball semifinals. Miller pours in a game-high 29 points, collects 16 rebounds and hands out eight assists. Koch notches a triple-double, finishing with 17 points, 18 boards and 10 assists. The Raiders, coached by Dennis Kormonick, lead by just four points heading into the fourth quarter but use a 28-14 final period to clinch the win. Tamaqua also receives 12 points from Beth Delay and 10 from Jane Boyer.
