March 6, 1998 Marian uses a big rally to force overtime and then pulls out a 43-41 victory over Girard College in the opening round of the PIAA Class A boys basketball playoffs. The Colts, coached by Dave McAndrew, trail by 11 points late in the third quarter but battle back to gain the win. Mike Murphy hits two three-pointers and Mike Bartholomew adds five points during the rally. Brent Andrew's basket in OT gives Marian the lead for good. Andrew and Scott Holloman each finish with a game-high 12 points.
