The Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center has a variety of activities planned for March, including a St. Patrick's Day celebration on March 17.Other activities for the month include: March 18, Salvation Army visit; March 20, special breakfast; March 27, craft Easter cards; March 30, baking day; March 31, visit from St. Jerome's kindergarten students.In addition to weekly sing-alongs, exercise sessions, a variety of therapies and social games, the center provides for hairstyling service, which requires advance notice. D.A.R.E. Challenge will be held March 7 in the Tamaqua Elementary School gym. There will be two sessions, from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2 to 4 p.m.Volunteers will be needed for the event, as well as for setup and cleanup.The gym will be set up from 6 to 9 p.m. March 6, and at 8:30 a.m. March 7. Cleanup will be done after the challenge, from 4 to 6 p.m.D.A.R.E. graduation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. April 19 in the Tamaqua Middle School Auditorium. Setup for graduation will be at 9 a.m. that day and volunteers will be needed.Donations to help defray the cost of the Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education program may be sent in care of Olga Williams, 209 Brown St., Tamaqua, PA 18252.Soup socialTrinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St., will host an outreach soup social, from 4 to 6 p.m. March 7 as part of its monthly "Feeding the Hungry" program. The public is welcome to attend and share in the free soup, friendship and God's love.Calvary EvangelicalLay leader Carl Heisler will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Pastor Mike Johnson, husband of EPUMC Bishop Peggy Johnson, will provide the sermon. Sunday school classes are at 9:15 a.m.Also this Sunday, a Bible study session based on the book of Jonah will be held at 6:30 p.m.A community Lenten service will be held at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary, 824 Catawissa Road in Tamaqua. A hymn sing will be held before the service.A family movie night will be held at 7 p.m. on March 13. The featured presentation will be part two of the series "Left Behind" starring Kirk Cameron.St. Peter's UnionSunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville.
