Police and rescue personnel were pressed into service Wednesday afternoon when it was reported a teen had jumped from the Weissport bridge into the frigid Lehigh River.

Police found the victim embedded in the ice on the north side of the bridge.

Police, firefighters and Lehighton paramedics extricated the person.

The injured person was treated at the scene and transported to a Lehigh Valley trauma center.
