Sestak to announce challenge to Toomey

HARRISBURG (AP) Democrat and former Navy Vice Admiral Joe Sestak says he'll seek a rematch with U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey in the 2016 election.

Sestak said in a campaign email that he'll make the announcement Wednesday at Independence Hall in Philadelphia.Sestak ran for the office in 2010 and lost narrowly in the general election to Toomey. Sestak had already beaten then-U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter in the primary after Specter switched his party affiliation from Republican.The 63-year-old Sestak served two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives representing a suburban Philadelphia district.Toomey is a former investment banker who served three terms in the U.S House and headed the free-market advocacy group Club for Growth in Washington, D.C., for several years before he was elected to the Senate.
