Tamaqua Police are looking for two people who removed a donation box from the Tamaqua Public Library, 30 S. Railroad St., Tamaqua.

Officers were dispatched to the library at 4:08 p.m. on Feb. 12 for a theft incident.After speaking with librarian Gayle Heath and reviewing surveillance footage, it was determined that Amanda Welker, 26, of 34 Hunter St., Tamaqua, and her boyfriend Thomas Tessitore entered the library at 2:37 p.m.While Tessitore distracted the counter attendant, Welker removed a Tamaqua Area Animal Rescue donation box from the counter. The container was estimated to contain $25.The officer went to Welker's Hunter Street address, but was unable to find either party.Another tenant at the apartment building said Welker hadn't been living there for some time.Anyone with information on Welker's whereabouts is asked to contact police at 570-668-5000.
