A hit-and-run accident that was reported at 5:20 p.m. Monday in the area of the Sand Quarry Road in Palmerton Borough is being investigated by state police at the Lehighton barracks.
Police said a black Nissan sedan traveling south on Sand Quarry Road left the roadway and struck a PPL utility pole, splintering it and causing it to lean over the roadway.Police said the vehicle sustained damage to its front bumper and headlight assembly, causing the bumper to fall off the vehicle. It was found at the scene.
