The 2014-15 high school basketball season is winding down. No Times News area teams became league champions, but six area teams will be in action during district playoffs with a shot to become District 11 champions.

The action will get underway on Tuesday, February 17th, when ninth-seeded Blue Mountain travels to eighth-seeded Lehighton in the first round of the boys' AAA bracket.Lehighton and Blue Mountain split their season series in Schuylkill League play, which included a thrilling double overtime Eagles' victory. The Indians will look to take advantage of playing on their home court on Tuesday.Tamaqua is the number four seed in the AAA class. The Raiders will take on the fifth-seeded Spartans of North Schuylkill on Friday, February 20th at 8p.m at Martz Hall in the quarterfinals.The two teams met earlier this month on the Spartans' home court, with North Schuylkill defeating Tamaqua, 50-43. The Blue Raiders are coming off of a thrilling overtime Schuylkill League championship loss to Pottsville, 33-28.The Marian Colts won four straight Schuylkill League games to end the season to earn the number three seed in the boys' AA bracket. The Colts will face second-seeded Mahanoy Area on Wednesday, February 25th in the AA semifinals (time TBA).Although Marian dropped both of its regular season contests with Mahanoy, both of the games were decided by a total of 15 combined points.The Times News coverage area features three girls' programs which qualified for the District 11 playoffs.Northwestern Lehigh earned the number five seed in the Class AAA bracket. The Lady Tigers will take on fourth-seeded Saucon Valley on Saturday, February 21st at 1p.m. at Northampton High School.Northwestern earned a double-digit victory over Saucon Valley earlier this month in the only meeting between the two schools this season. The Lady Tigers won seven games in a row to reach the Colonial League championship last week, but came up short in the title game to Notre Dame of Green Pond.The final two Times News girls' teams are both in the AA bracket.Palmerton earned the fourth seed and will take on number five Salisbury on Friday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. at Catasauqua High School.The two schools split their regular season meetings, as each squad was victorious on its respective home court.Marian will be the sixth seed and will take on third-seeded Minersville.The Fillies came up short at against the Battlin' Miners earlier this season, 54-46. Marian was more recently defeated by Schuylkill League champion North Schuylkill in the opening round of the Schuylkill League playoffs.
