The Tamaqua Public Library offers free basic computer classes through the Seniors Training Seniors Program. www.padoglicense.com or at a variety of licensing agents.Locally, those agents include AAA at 202 E. Broad St.; Tom's Auto and Marine, Greenwood Street and Mountain Avenue; and Koch's Farm Service in the Lewistown Valley.There has been a small increase in fees. Owners of unlicensed dogs face fines of up to $500.For more information, call McGovern's office at 570-628-1433.Coffee connectionThe Tamaqua Area Ministerium is sponsoring a three-part series as part of its community ministry program, titled "Coffee and Connection." The series is designed to encourage free and open conversations about God, the church and individuals.The theme will be "Things We Wish Jesus Hadn't Said." Each meeting will focus on a different message.All meetings will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., on select dates, at Vonz Restaurant, located in the train station in Tamaqua.The first meeting will be held Feb. 24 and will focus on "Anyone who does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple."Additional meetings will be held on March 24 (Love your enemy) and April 24 (Give away everything you have).No preregistration is required and the public is welcome.St. John LutheranThe Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Transfiguration Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will include Holy Communion. Sunday school class will meet at 10:30 a.m.Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 10:30 a.m. and the bell choir will rehearse at noon.Activities for next week include: Monday, learning ministry meets at 6 p.m.; Thursday, angel choir rehearses at 6 p.m., shepherd choir meets at 6:30 p.m., property committee meets at 7 p.m., chancel choir practice is at 7:30 p.m.
