Updated report on burglary

State police at Frackville have issued an updated reported on a burglary that occurred at a Schuylkill County residence last month.

The burglary occurred Jan. 20 along Morea Road in West Mahanoy Township. Since then troopers said a caller who saw the initial report of the break-in in the local media, contacted troopers. The caller, from Route 443 in North Manheim Township, reported seeing two males near Orwigsburg, in a newer model, dark gray, extended cab pickup truck, with New Jersey registration, that had stopped at a residence between 1 and 3 p.m. on Jan. 20 and used several ruses of water main work, property line display, and tree trimming work, in an unsuccessful attempt to gain entry to the home. The vehicle was observed to have approached the residence on Route 443 from the west, and when it left, it was headed west on Route 443, which would suggest it having traveled from there to an East Norwegian Township burglary, investigated by Saint Clair police, and then north of Route 61.Anyone who may have had contact with this vehicle or the two males in question is asked to call troopers at 570-874-5300.Also, troopers ask anyone along the Route 61 corridor from Route 443 near Orwigsburg to the village of Mill Creek, who would have surveillance video depicting northbound traffic on Route 61, between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. on Jan. 20, is asked to contact troopers.
