Carbon crash

One person sustained a minor injury in a one-vehicle crash on Thursday in Carbon County. It was one of two crashes reported by state police at Fern Ridge.

Troopers said Eugene P. Vena Sr., 72, of Albrightsville, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Colorado pickup along Burnshaw Lane, in Penn Forest Township, at 2:47 p.m. when the truck went onto the berm and struck a tree.A passenger with Vena, Anita M. Vena, 70, of Albrightsville, had a minor injury but did not require immediate medical treatment.A one-vehicle crash was reported on Sunday at 2:40 a.m. along Toll Road in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Edward L. Ross, 32, of Effort, was driving a 2007 Dodge Magnum southbound when he swerved to avoid three deer that were crossing the road.Ross lost control of the car, which went onto the berm and struck an embankment, then rolled over onto the driver's side.Ross was not injured but the car had to be towed from the scene.
