The Tamaqua Elementary Parent Teacher Organization will meet on Tuesday.Fifth-grade parents will meet at 6 p.m. in the school library to discuss the menu for the fifth-grade party and the current doughnut sale. Delivery date for the doughnuts will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Feb. 15, at the South Ward Fire Company.The regular PTO meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Topics for discussion will include the yearbook, with order forms due by Feb. 27, and a Gertrude Hawk candy sale for Easter.Library newsThe Tamaqua Public Library is scheduled to be closed on April 3 and April 6, with shortened hours on April 4. Saturday hours will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.The library's seasonal hours are in effect through July: Monday and Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesday and Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, noon to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Two book discussion groups meet monthly at the library.The Teen/Young Adult group will meet at 6 p.m. on Feb. 16. The theme is "Exploring the World in Books." This month will concentrate on St. Valentine and Italy, along with some exploration of the cultures of the Greek and Roman Empires. The topic for the March meeting will be Ireland and St. Patrick.The adult book discussion group will meet at 6 p.m. on Feb. 23.
