Driving under the influence was indicated to have been involved in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 2:20 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Route 209 and Swatara Road, in Reilly Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Joseph G. Spangler, 29, of Tower City, was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup northbound on Swatara Road and approaching the intersection, while Andrew A. Amon II, 79, of Tremont, driving a 2000 Mercury Sable, was southbound on 209.At the intersection Spangler failed to stop for a posted stop sign with his truck being struck on the driver's side by the Mercury.Spangler was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street, Pottsville. Neither Amon nor his passengers Margaret J. Rowlands, 50; Renee McReynolds, 47; and Wayne B. McReynolds, 52, all of Tremont, were injured.The report indicated that the crash was DUI-related.
