Lehighton water main fixed

A water main break Wednesday in Lehighton is under control.

Members of the borough Water Authority tended to the incident at Sixth and Iron streets.Arman Galasso, superintendent of the borough Water Authority, said a small 4-inch water main broke."It wasn't that big of a leak," Galasso said. "We never shut the water down to fix it, there was no boil advisory."Galasso said a worker drove by and noticed the break, and work began first thing Wednesday. The break took about seven hours to fix, Galasso said."There were complications with a gas line running over top of the water main in that area over the break," he said. "So, basically, there was a lot of hand excavation when you're close to a utility like that."
