SUV and PennDOT plow in crash

A sport utility vehicle and a PennDOT snowplow were involved in a crash at 7:30 a.m. Monday along Main Street (Route 4027), east of Barry Road, in the village of Lavelle, Butler Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Garrett Vandemark, 21, of Ashland was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox southbound on Barry Road and negotiating a slight right curve and attempting to turn onto Main Street, as Glenn Weinrich, 61, of Ashland, driving a 2010 Mack Granite snowplow, was eastbound on Main Street plowing snow.Vandemark observed the snowplow approaching and applied his brakes, which caused the Equinox to slide into the eastbound lane of Main Street. The left front quarter panel of the Equinox struck the front tire of the truck.No injuries were reported. The SUV and truck both sustained minor damages and were driven from the scene.
