CCTI student chapter wins award
Carbon Career & Technical Institute is making waves on an international level.
Recently, the school's electronics and computer engineering programs were collectively named the Electronics Technician Association "student chapter of the year."CCTI students bested all eligible chapters within and outside the United States.Formed in January 2014, the chapter promotes careers in electronics and supporting student electronics technicians."The ETA and CCTI have given me a chance to come out of high school at a higher level than my peers, and be better prepared for the electronics industry," said Owen Henninger of Jim Thorpe.Henninger serves as president of the student chapter.Vice President Andrew Frable of Panther Valley said the award highlights the great work coming out of CCTI."Winning student chapter of the year is not only a privilege but a huge accomplishment for our school and my fellow classmates," he said. "The ETA provides us with a competitive edge as well as knowledge about employment and education.To promote the electronics and computer industries, the CCTI student chapter sent two teams to Pennsylvania SkillsUSA competition in Hershey last year.Promoting electronics was the team of Andrew Frable, Jacob Snyder and Jared David, all freshmen. They received a silver medal. Promoting computers/information was the team of Jocelyn Mansberry, Hunter Simmons and Preston Smith.
