No injuries when bus hits car in Palmerton

No injuries occurred after a school bus carrying Palmerton Area School District students ran into another vehicle.

Borough police Chief Randy Smith said the incident took place at 2:43 p.m. Thursday at First Street and Lehigh Avenue.Smith said at that time, a school bus from Leon A. George II School Buses of Palmerton, operated by Lisa Frable, 39, of Bowmanstown, was traveling south on First Street when it attempted to make a left onto Lehigh Avenue and collided with a 2011 Lexus SUV being driven by MaryAnn Smelas, 73, of Palmerton, which was traveling west on Lehigh Avenue.Smith said no one was injured during the incident. The bus was able to continue on its route, he said.Neither of the vehicles had to be towed, though there was minor damage done to both, Smith said.No citations were issued as a result of the incident, he said.
