Montgomery County man admits to break-in at train ticket booth

A Montgomery County man admitted his part into the break-in of a train ticket booth in Carbon County court on Thursday.

He was one of five defendants in pending criminal cases to enter a guilty plea before Judge Steven R. Serfass.Jim Thorpe incidentAndrew Gilchrist, 32, of Norristown, pleaded to one count each of criminal conspiracy-burglary and theft.He admitted his part in the Nov. 29, 2013, entry to the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway/Reading Northern Railroad ticket booth along Lehigh Avenue in Jim Thorpe. The booth is located next to the train station.Gilchrest was charged along with three others with entering the booth and removing money and other items. Taken was about $2,200 in cash along with keys to various railroad properties and hand-held radios.Also charged in the incident was Stephanie Marie Thompson, 29, and Rachael Lynn Thompson, 25, both of Royersford, and Neil Joseph Young, 32, of Plymouth Meeting, all Montgomery County. The cases against the co-defendants are pending.Serfass accepted the pleas but deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.Other pleasOther defendants entering guilty pleas:Amanda Danielle Parisi, 28, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of theft.She was charged by Lehighton police for an incident on June 27 when she took a purse belonging to Ashley Roberts and $25 in cash.Parisi is currently serving a 90-day to 60-month county prison term for driving under the influence.Serfass placed her on probation for a year, concurrent with the DUI charge.Joseph M. Moyer, 32, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of accidents involving death or personal injury.He was arrested on May 22, 2013, by Lehighton police after being involved in an incident along Penn Street. An auto repossession employee tried to take possession of Moyer's vehicle. He tried to flee, and in pulling away struck the employee, causing minor injuries.Moyer is currently in the county prison serving a term in an unrelated case.Serfass placed him on probation for two years, consecutive to his current sentence, and ordered he render 100 hours of community service when released on parole.On a summary offense of failure to render aid, he was fined $25.Kaitlin Grace Stahler, 29, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of false reports.She was arrested by Mahoning Township police for an incident on Aug. 28 in the area of 130 Mauch Chunk St. Police responded to a report of a domestic incident. On scene Stahler gave a false statement to police.She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Michael Lawrence Curry, 27, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of failing to furnish drug-free urine.He was arrested on Sept. 29 by Jim Thorpe police at the courthouse in Jim Thorpe. Curry appeared at the adult probation office to supply a urine screen as part of the conditions of his release. He attempted to supply a sample from another person.Curry is currently in the county prison serving a term for a probation violation that runs to March.Serfass placed him on probation for a year, consecutive to his current sentence, and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, and render 50 hours of community service when released from jail.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
