A theft in Schuylkill County of a copper lead from a welder also brings a medical warning to those involved.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the theft occurred at 116 Lake Front Drive in Deer Lake. The copper lead was removed from a pickup parked at that location. The negative lead from the welder was cut and the wire removed. The theft occurred sometime overnight of Jan. 8-9.Troopers issued a caution with the theft report. The warning is for anyone attempting to buy or coming into contact with this particular 50-foot copper welder lead. The wire has been exposed to beryllium and has not been sanitized. Exposure to the skin can result in beryllium poisoning and medical attention should be sought.Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at 570-739-1330.
