A Schuylkill County man has been charged with two counts of driving under the influence from an incident that occurred over the summer.

On Aug. 30, 2014, Mahoning Township Police stopped a vehicle on Route 209 during a DUI checkpoint. As a result of the stop, the driver, Chad Derr, of Coaldale, was found under the influence of alcohol.Derr admitted to officers he was in possession of methamphetamine, and he surrendered a small baggie. The contents tested positive for Methamphetamine. A blood test showed a blood-alcohol content of 0.10 percent.Derr has been charged with two counts of DUI and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 18.
