2 charged in Coaldale man's death

State police at Frackville on Sunday charged two people in the death of a Coaldale man, whose skeletal remains were found in a wooded area last September.

Troopers said Oliver Luis Trizarri, 21, of Reading, and a 17-year-old male, have been charged with criminal homicide, criminal conspiracy to commit homicide, robbery, aggravated assault, and theft by unlawful taking. Although the 17-year-old is being charged as an adult, police have not yet released his name.The two are charged with the murder of Corey Michael Samuels, 24.Samuels' remains were found on Sept. 6 near East Miner Street in the western end of the borough. Police said two people walking in the area found the remains.Samuels was reported missing on Jan. 24, 2014.Volunteers and firefighters accompanied by search dogs scoured the wooded, mountainous terrain of the property owned by BET Lehigh Real Estate, land that was formerly owned and mined by Lehigh Coal and Navigation, for several days looking for Samuels. Samuels' family reported him missing to Coaldale police.At the time police said Samuels suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder due to his time in the military.He left the U.S. Marine Corps in 2012.He was last seen in the woods with friends near Summit Hill.Troopers said the two suspects were arrested on Sunday following an exhausting investigation and consultation with the Schuylkill County coroner's office and a forensic anthropologist.His death was ruled a homicide, troopers said.Both defendants were arraigned before on-call District Judge Anthony Kilker of Shenandoah and both were committed to the county prison without bail since one of the charges is criminal homicide.At the time of his disappearance his Facebook profiled stated Samuels' girlfriend was Tara Corin Kurtz since Aug. 15, 2013.He was a graduate of William Allen High School in Allentown in 2008 and joined the Marines shortly thereafte, according to his Facebook page.
