State police at Lehighton reported investigating a one-vehicle crash at 9:55 p.m. Jan. 3 along Behrens Road, at the intersection with Midway Drive, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Jeffrey J. Malloy, 23, of Jim Thorpe, was driving a 2012 Dodge Avenger northbound and approaching a slight curve at the intersection when he lost control on the icy road. The vehicle continued in a straight path making impact with a street sign, then continued about 10 feet where it made impact with a tree, where it came to rest.Malloy was not injured. The vehicle sustained major damage to its front end, troopers said. Malloy was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
