Man, 58, dies in northeastern Pa. house fire

OLYPHANT, Pa. (AP) - Firefighters say a 58-year-old man has died in a northeastern Pennsylvania house fire that quickly went to three alarms as single-digit temperatures caused water and equipment to freeze.

Firefighters responded to the Scott Township home around 11 p.m. Wednesday and continued to battle the blaze for several hours. The two-story home collapsed around 12:45 p.m.

Officials did not release the victim's name. No one else was hurt.

The Times-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1Aum73b) officials were salting the road to break up ice formed from water used in fighting the fire.
