Carbon County swore in its first femaledistrict attorney this year. On Aug. 29, Jean A. Engler of Jim Thorpe took the oath as the county's top prosecutor in front of friends, colleagues and former District Attorney Gary F. Dobias, who retired after 23 years that same day. Engler had served as an assistant district attorney in the county since 1989.
