Palmerton senior Tre Nelson has been named Pennsylvania Small School Defensive Player of the Year by EasternPAFootball.com.

Nelson was a four-year starter on defense at linebacker and three-year starter on offense at running back."Tre is a tremendous leader," Palmerton head football coach Chris Walkowiak said. "He is a two-year captain. His on the field and off the field work ethic is second to none."This year, Nelson was the team leader with 124 tackles (school record), 62 solo, six tackles for a loss, one interception and one fumble recovery.He was named Class AA All-State and has verbally committed to play football at Monmouth.
