A Mahanoy City man ended up in the Schuylkill County Prison last weekend following a disturbance in Tamaqua.

Police were dispatched to Willing Street at 2:22 p.m. after a caller reported being threatened by Robert Pastucha, 30, of 109 E. Pine St., Mahanoy City. The victim said Pastucha had threatened to kill him, but he was able to get away. He refused to get out of the Jeep, instead fumbling with something in his lap, concealed by his shirt.Despite repeated warnings from officers, Pastucha refused to leave the Jeep, continuing to fumble with the object in his lap. When an officer reached inside the vehicle to make an arrest, Pastucha pulled back, showing a folding pocket knife, with an exposed blade, in his lap. When he continued to resist, an officer deployed his Taser. Pastucha fell to the ground. As officers attempted to place handcuffs on him, he took a ceramic bowl from his pants, smashed it on the ground and attempted to use the sharp shards to cut the officers. He was subdued and transported to the police station.Charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and use of a prohibited weapon, he was arraigned before duty District Judge James Reiley, who set bail at $25,000.He was unable to post bond and was lodged in the county prison.
