Pit bull charges man in Carbon

Nesquehoning police have issued citations to Georgetta Perez of 239 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, for allowing her pit bull to run at large and for housing a dangerous dog.

Police Chief Sean Smith said he was on patrol at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of East Catawissa Street when he observed a male walking across the highway, heading to his vehicle. Smith said he observed a large brown pit bull come charging out of Perez's residence and obviously going to attack the man.The police chief said he used the patrol vehicle to try to hit the dog to protect the victim, getting close enough to the dog to scare it away from the man.
