Zendo neighbors' voices were heard before meeting

This letter is in response to the ongoing, ridiculous drama and related articles concerning the Blue Mountain Zendo on Deere Lane in West Penn Township.

It is not my intent to perpetuate the issue or add to the drama, but instead just to add another perspective from someone who lives on Deere Lane that is not included in any of the articles. The articles, in my opinion, are lacking in counterpoints or thoroughness, and some of the wording leads to biased conclusions. For example, it was reported in the article of Dec. 10 that the "meeting" was held "long enough to read the agreement into the record and took no testimony not associated with the agreement."When reading that, especially in context with the headlines and article content, one can conclude that the zoning board did not pay attention to the neighbors, when in essence, the neighbors were heard through written and verbal complaints in the months prior. It was not a meeting, but a hearing that was not necessary to have since an agreement had been made and the matter was closed it was too late to cancel the hearing, but the time was used to read the agreement into the record.I'm not going to feed into the mess by stating what I've seen and heard. Bottom line is that neighbors have conflicting views and there are points on both sides. That being said, there are points that I would like to bring up that were not in the article, in addition to the above points. Not all of the neighbors are against the Blue Mountain Zendo.Extensive research had been done by the legal departments to arrive at their decision. There is no evidence submitted in the complaint to support that a business cannot be held on Deere Lane. There is no evidence submitted in the complaint as to what constitutes a private road, and whether the public is allowed. In the research that I've done, I've found multiple interpretations of a private road/deeded private drive, some stating the public is allowed, some stating not.Without the entire picture and points from both sides, it is nothing more than spreading gossip and can damage the image of others.Cheryl KeiferAndreas
