Two Nesquehoning teens arrested for sexual assault

Two male Nesquehoning teens have been arrested on sexual assault-related charges stemming from two separate incidents.

On Dec. 1 borough Police Chief Sean Smith received a complaint from Children and Youth Services of a suspected child abuse incident. The report indicated a 14-year-old male sexually assaulted a 4-year-old girl.Smith set an appointment to have the victim examined by the Children's Advocacy Center in Scranton, where it was determined the girl had been sexually assaulted by the teen.Smith filed charges with the county juvenile probation office including felony counts of criminal attempt-rape of a child, rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and misdemeanor counts of indecent assault (two counts), and indecent exposure.The teen was arrested on Friday and placed in a juvenile detention center pending a hearing before the county court.The second incident involved a 15-year-old male accused of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl.Officer Timothy Wuttke received a report from Children and Youth services of the incident. Wuttke had the victim interviewed by the Scranton-based child advocacy office and it was determined that the girl had been sexually assaulted by the 15-year-old.The teen was charged through the juvenile probation office with three counts of indecent assault, all misdemeanor ones.
