The owner of a safe found off Interstate 81 in Ryan Township, Schuylkill County, is being sought.

State police at Frackville said correction officers from the state correctional institution at Mahanoy located the safe, down an embankment off I-81. The officers supervising a work crew of inmates from the prison found the damaged safe that had nothing in it.The safe was found about 40 feet off the right side of I-81 northbound, down a slight embankment. The safe was described as being a gray Sentry depository "drop safe," measuring 14 by 20 inches with a key pad combination locking mechanism on the door. The serial number on the safe is DH074ED126010780. The safe's door had previously been forced open.Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at 570-874-5300.
