An icy Interstate 81 was blamed for a tractor-trailer crashing along Interstate 81 in Butler Township, Schuylkill County, early today.

State police at Frackville said Laonya Vanece Williams, 42, of Huntsville, Alabama, was driving a 2014 Freightliner tractor with trailer, owned by Western Express, southbound at 12:47 a.m. when she lost control due to icy conditions. The rig jackknifed across both southbound lanes and struck an embankment along the east berm, where it came to rest.Williams was not injured but her passenger, Marcus Cooper, 22, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, who was asleep in the sleeper area of the cab, complained of neck pain and was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street, Pottsville.Damages to the front end of the tractor were disabling. Troopers said Williams was cited for the crash.
