A Carbon County man sustained a minor injury in a crash Monday in Lehigh County.
State Police at Fogelsville said Todd W. Titus, 31, of Weatherly, was operating his 2001 Peterbilt at 3:09 a.m. on Route 309 southbound, just south of Route 143, Lynn Township.The crash occurred as the Peterbilt, a commercial vehicle with a flatbed semitrailer, was hauling wire mesh southbound on Route 309.After traveling through a left curve at the intersection of routes 309 and 143, the Peterbilt swerved within its lane, lost control, and traveled about 45 feet onto the west shoulder of the roadway.The Peterbilt then overturned onto its passenger side, struck a road sign on the west shoulder and lost its load.It traveled another 324 feet on its side to its point of final rest facing southwest in the right, southbound lane.Wire mesh, debris and a large amount of fuel was strewn about the roadway.Both southbound and northbound lanes of Route 903 were detoured for an extended period of time.Assisting on scene were the New Tripoli Fire Company, Goodwin Fire Company, state Department of Transportation, Hauser's Towing and Soley's Towing.Titus, who was wearing a lap and shoulder belt at the time of the incident, was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
