Man drowns trying to pull boy, 9, from Scranton stream

SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - Firefighters say a man drowned while trying to save a 9-year-old boy from an icy northeastern Pennsylvania stream.

Scranton Fire Superintendent Pat DeSarno says a dive team recovered Robert Kehoe Jr.'s body from Roaring Brook at Nay Aug Park around 10 p.m. Sunday.

DeSarno says a hiker and two college students helped pull the boy to safety.

Officials say the boy fell into the water as he walked with Kehoe and a younger boy around 4:30 p.m.
