State police at Frackville reported on two crashes investigated by troopers on Thursday, one being a hit-and-run.
The hit-and-run was reported at 3:25 p.m. along Route 61 southbound in New Castle Township. Troopers said a vehicle was driven northbound while Robert Bechtel, 37, of Port Carbon, was driving a 2014 Ford F150 truck southbound.The other vehicle struck the driver's side mirror on the Ford and then continued northbound without stopping. Damages were minor to the Ford. Bechtel was not injured.The second crash occurred at 5:13 p.m. along Interstate 81 in Ryan Township. Troopers said Joann M. Yeager, 50, of Pottsville, was driving a 2014 Kia Sportage southbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. The Kia struck the deer.Yeager sustained a minor hand injury while her passenger, Linda L. Yeager, 55, of Pottsville, was not injured. She did not require immediate medical attention.The Kia had to be towed from the scene.
