Medicare enrollment assistanceThe Panther Valley Public Library, located at 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, will be assisting seniors during open enrollment for Medicare part C & D every Wednesday through Dec. 7 during regular library hours.Counselors will assist consumers in finding a drug plan or a Medicare Part C plan.This service is available by appointment.Call the library to set up an appointment date and time at 570-645-3780.Preschool story hourThe Panther Valley Public Library, 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, offers a free, preschool story hour from 9:30-10:30 a.m. every Tuesday.Stories, snacks and activities are provided for the children.Al-Anon meetingThe Al-Anon group meets Mondays at 7:15 p.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Church Hall, 120 E. Abbott St., Lansford.Al-Anon is a nonprofit worldwide support organization helping families and friends of loved ones suffering from addiction.Golden AgersThe Nov. 10 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers opened with a prayer for veterans recited by Mike Vigoda.Patriotic songs were led by Ruth Ann Feane and Diane Gould. Each branch of the military was remembered.Alex Makita announced his resignation as membership chairmen after serving for 15 years.Mike Vigoda will assume the position.Officers for 2015 will be Irene Hudasky, president; Shirley Pavlick, vice president; Mary "Tootsie" Orsulak, recording secretary; and Fran Golder, treasurer.The annual Christmas party will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 30 at La Dolce Casa in Tamaqua.The next scheduled meeting will be Dec. 8.Hospitality for January and February is Diane Gould and Mary Ann Maynard.NesquehoningNeighborhood watchThe next meeting of the Nesquehoning neighborhood watch group will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 9, in the borough hall.Christmas partyThe Nesquehoning Recreation Commission is planning its annual children's Christmas party for children in the boroughThe party will be held Dec. 14. Anyone wishing to sign up a child can do so on Wednesdays during bingo.
