SHINE food driveThe Panther Valley SHINE center is currently collecting canned and dried foods for the "Feed the People" organization in Nesquehoning.Food items will be collected until Dec. 18. Items can be dropped off at the elementary school or at Panther Valley Lumber in Lansford.Summit HillFood pantryThe Thanksgiving food distribution date for the Summit Hill Food Pantry will be on Monday. The food pantry is located in the Summit Hill Heritage Center on Hazard and Chestnut streets.Distribution will take place between 10-11:30 a.m.There is to be no parking in the alley before 9:45 a.m. and absolutely no parking in the vacant lot.Recipients are reminded to bring along extra strong shopping/tote bags.Historical society meetingThe Summit Hill Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the museum on Ludlow Street.Agenda items are lottery ticket sales, Christmas Open House, antique toy display and decorating.President Lou Vermillion will chair the meeting, which is open to all.NesquehoningFree Thanksgiving mealMeed's Memorial Methodist Church, 126 W. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, will hold its annual free Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday.The dinner will include turkey and all the trimmings, dessert and beverages.Seatings will be at 3 and 5 p.m.Call 570-669-6764 or 570-669-9212 to make a reservation for either seating.If leaving a message, please leave your name, phone number, and what seating time you would like. Reservations will be taken until Thursday.
