Woman cited for theft

A Schuylkill County woman has been cited for retail theft at a Carbon County business.

Nesquehoning police have charged Lisa Marie Davie, 41, of 227 Second St., Coaldale, with retail theft and receiving stolen property.According to arresting officer Timothy Wuttke, on Oct. 1 at 3:06 p.m. he was dispatched to Redners Warehouse Market for a theft incident. A loss prevention officer told Wuttke he observed a female take candy without paying for them. When confronted upon leaving the store, the female pushed the employee and fled the parking lot at a high rate of speed operating a Town & Country van. The employee followed the van toward Jim Thorpe on Route 209 and managed to get the license plate number, which he provided, and gave a description of the female. The plate came back to a Coaldale address. The van was later stopped and Davie was identified as the driver. Davie denied taking anything from the store. The employee identified to police the items taken. The employee said Davie did purchase some candy but concealed the other items in question.Davie continued to deny taking anything, or the confrontation with the employee or pushing him and speeding out of the parking lot. She consented to a search of her van. The search revealed a white plastic bag on the passenger side floor containing a bag of Reese's miniature peanut butter cups and a bag of Hubba Bubba gum, the two items identified earlier by the employee as the items taken.Other candy items were also found in a bag which Davie stated she had purchased at another store. Davie continued to deny taking the items. She was told she would be charged in connection with the Redners' incident and was then released from custody.
