Jim Thorpe Area School District is focused more on the technological future.A new mobile application was introduced at the board meeting this week.Now members of the public can retrieve district information on their mobile phones.Jerome Brown, director of technology for the district, demonstrated the app and showed board members how they can retrieve lunch menus, sports schedules, bus schedules and even a student's grades, the latter being safeguarded through sign-in and password.Brown said he believes Jim Thorpe is the first district in Carbon County to have an app.Instructions for downloading it are on the school district's web site.The app is available through the iTunes store or Google Play, he said.In the news category, residents can get updates on anything from National Honor Society induction to championships in sporting events.The app is available at
