Palmerton man leads police on chase

A Carbon County driver is facing charges and was jailed following an incident that began at 10:40 p.m. on Sunday along Route 209 at the Country Junction in Towamensing Township.

State police at Lehighton said Jason Adam Hersh, 40, of Palmerton, was observed in the parking lot of the Country Junction after business hours. When troopers attempted to identify him he fled and a high-speed pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended when Hersh crashed his vehicle.As a result he was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, resisting arrest, driving under the influence, recklessly endangering another person and various summary offenses. He was lodged in the county prison in Nesquehoning pending arraignment.
