Boaters attended a meeting at Beltzville State Park with officials of the Department of Environmental Resources, Bureau of State Parks, to discuss the issue of controlling the size and horsepower of boats allowed to use Beltzville Lake.

DER officials were presented with a petition containing 80 signatures, demanding that something be done to regulate the size of boats and the use of jet skis on the lake. The petition was presented by Jan Kapcala, owner of Beltzville Pro Fishing of Lehighton, who told DER "Things are out of control. It's a dangerous situation."
