Indians, Raiders split grid games

Lehighton and Tamaqua split a pair of football games recently.

The Indians won the JV contest while the Blue Raiders took the Middle School matchup.FOOTBALLMiddle SchoolLehighton-TamaquaTamaqua rolled to a 42-15 victory over Lehighton.Nick Breiner had a huge game for the Indians as he rushed for 213 yards on just 10 carries and scored four touchdowns. Quarterback Brayden Knoblauch also played well, going 10-for-14 for 184 yards and two touchdowns. Matt Kistler and Nate Boyle caught the TD passes.For Lehighton (6-3), Zach Crum caught a 65-yard scoring pass from Chris Whitehead and Brandon Frey added a 68-yard TD run.The victory capped an unbeaten campaign for Tamaqua (8-0-1). Breiner finished the season with 1,011 rushing yards for the Raiders. Knoblauch had 1,160 yards through the air and tossed 19 touchdowns and just four interceptions.Junior VarsityLehighton-TamaquaLehighton cruised to a 54-0 victory over Tamaqua.Cody Sherer, Mike Mayernik and Nick Skrincosky all scored two tocuhdowns for the Indians (5-1-1). Jahmir Spencer added a rushing TD and Xander Smith had a scoop and score for the Lehighton defense. Seth Van Fossen kicked five extra points to round out the scoring.
