A Lehighton man pleaded guilty to simple assault and was placed on probation.

Donald Raymond Hood, 48, entered his plea before Carbon County President Judge Roger N. Nanovic for an incident that occurred on Dec. 7, 2013.Franklin Township police responded to 673 Greenwood St. for a report of an assault incident. On scene officers learned that Hood had assaulted Rachael Simmons during a domestic dispute.Nanovic placed him on probation for 18 months and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, attend and complete anger management counseling, have no contact with Simmons, pay court costs of about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.Hood was scheduled to go on trial this week but instead entered into a plea agreement with the district attorney's office.
