Several Schuylkill businesses cited
Eight Schuylkill County businesses have been cited by the Allentown enforcement office of the state liquor control board for violations of the liquor code.
The Keg Stand Inc, 23 E. Center St., first floor, Mahanoy City, was cited for paid for purchases of malt or brewed beverages with other than licensee's checks, cashier's checks or money orders. The violations occurred on various dates.Pep's Pub & Hotel Inc., 30 Pike St., Port Carbon, was cited for the licensed premises was not a bona fide hotel where the public may, for a consideration, obtain meals in that there was an insufficient supply of food and/or failed to provide food upon request, in violation of the liquor code.Also, smoked and/or permitted smoking in a public place where smoking is prohibited. The offenses occurred on various dates.Sarge's Soup & Sandwiches Inc., 538 N. Centre St., Pottsville, was cited for possessed or operated gambling devices or paraphernalia or permitted gambling or lotteries, poolselling and/or bookmaking on the licensed premises and also for failing to keep records of the licensed premises. The offense date was July 2.Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 134, 16-18 S. Second St., Pottsville, was cited for possessed or operated gambling devices or paraphernalia or permitted gambling or lotteries, poolselling and/or bookmaking on the licensed premises. Offenses occurred on various dates.Klingerstown Hotel, 92 Main St., Upper Mahantongo Township, was cited for failed to comply with the order of the administrative law judge of a previous citation mandating responsible alcohol management training. The violation occurred June 26 through Aug. 10.American Crow Bar, 601 W. Centre St., Shenandoah, was cited for failed to have board-approved manager complete RAMP training within 180 days of the board's approval of the appointment. The violation occurred May 7 through June 18.The Ashland Grille, 308-310 Center St., Ashland, was cited for used, or permitted to be used on the inside of licensed premises, a loudspeaker or similar device whereby the sound of music or other entertainment, or the advertisement thereof, could be heard beyond the licensee's property line. Also cited for sold, furnished and/or gave alcoholic beverages on Sunday between 2 and 11 a.m. The violations occurred Jan. 19 and May 10.Bella Italia Ristorante LLC, 380 Center Ave., Bedways Mall, Schuylkill Haven, cited for failed to have board-approved manager complete RAMP training within 180 days of the board's approval of the appointment. The violation occurred June 4-28.These charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses.In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation based on the severity of the charge brought.
