First Congregational ChurchA number of activities are scheduled at First Congregational Church in Coaldale in the coming weeks, including Harvest Home, Veterans Day, Community Choir and Thanksgiving.The beginning of the Harvest Home collection will take place at the morning worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday. Donations of nonperishable food items will be welcomed.The Women's Class will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday.The church nursing home ministry group will visit St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus at 11 a.m. and MapleShade at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.Rehearsal for the Community Choir will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday. The choir is open to anyone who wishes to honor our veterans.A Veteran's Day Community Service will be held at 9 a.m. Nov. 9, featuring a special tribute to area veterans and patriotic selections presented by the community choir. Sunday School will follow at 10 a.m.LansfordMedicare enrollment assistance for seniorsThe Panther Valley Public Library, located at 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, will be assisting seniors during open enrollment for Medicare part C & D every Wednesday through Dec. 7 during regular library hours.Counselors will assist consumers in finding a drug plan or a Medicare Part C plan.This service is available by appointment. Call the library to set up an appointment date and time at 570-645-3780.Preschool story hourThe Panther Valley Public Library, 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, offers a free, preschool story hour from 9:30-10:30 a.m. every Tuesday. Stories, snacks and activities are provided for the children.Al-Anon meetingsAl-Anon group to meet Mondays at 7:15 p.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Church Hall, 120 E. Abbott St., Lansford. Al-Anon is a nonprofit worldwide support organization helping families and friends of loved ones suffering from addiction.NesquehoningWoman's clubThe Nesquehoning Woman's Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church with President Barbara Priadka in charge. The program will feature the new Carbon County District Attorney Jean Engler. Guests are welcome.Donations for the military will be collected to be sent in care packages. Reservations will be taken for the Christmas dinner at Macaluso's on Dec. 1.
