Carbon man pleads to trespass count; others also plead guilty

A Carbon County man pleaded guilty in the county court to one count of criminal trespass for a Mahoning Township incident.

He was one of five defendants to enter a guilty plea on Monday before Judge Steven R. Serfass.Probation termJosh Weimar, 21, of Lehighton, pleaded to the trespass count as a felony three for his part in the entry of a residence in Mahoning Township on Feb. 26, 2013.Weimar was one of three defendants in the case. In a plea agreement, a burglary charge was dropped.Serfass placed Weimar on probation for 36 months and ordered him to get a mental health evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, supply a DNA sample, and render 150 hours of community service. He must also pay his share of restitution, which is $225.Other pleasOther defendants who entered pleas:Alicia Hibbler, 35, of Tamaqua, formerly of Shenandoah, pleaded to one count of criminal conspiracy-theft. She was arrested for an incident on Jan. 30, 2013, at the First National Pharmacy in Lehighton. She took 180 oxycodone pill while attempting to get a forged prescription filled.She is currently in the county prison serving a probation violation sentence that runs to Nov. 11.Serfass placed her on probation for 24 months, consecutive to her current sentence, and ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance imposed on D&A use, and render 100 hours of community service when released from prison.A 10-year-old boy from Philadelphia pleaded to one count of simple assault. He was arrested by state police at Fern Ridge for an incident at the Camp Adams juvenile facility in Penn Forest Township on April 4. He assaulted another juvenile at the camp. The camp is for juvenile offenders of the justice system who are placed there by a county court.The boy is currently housed at the North Central Secure Treatment facility in Danville. A case worker told the court that he was doing well in the facility and still has about six more months before completing his current program.Serfass placed him on probation for 24 months and ordered him to render 100 hours of community service when he is released from the treatment facility.Ashley Ann Groff, 24, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of retail theft. She was arrested on Feb. 26, 2013, by Mahoning Township for an incident at the Walmart store. She took $849.71 worth of merchandise. It all was recovered by police.Serfass placed her on probation for 24 months and ordered her to render 100 hours of community service.Kenneth W. Hawk, 45, of Weissport, pleaded to a summary offense of harassment. A simple assault charge was dropped in a plea agreement.He was charged for an incident on June 15, 2013, in the area of 314 Bridge St., Weissport, with Richard Bennick the listed victim. Serfass was told the incident stems from a neighbors' dispute.Serfass imposed a fine of $300 and ordered restitution to Bennick in the amount of $800.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs, which average about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
