Business continues to grow at the Blue Shamrock Golf Club in Palmerton.

The updated status of the property at 2230 Fireline Road was shared recently at a joint mixer between the Palmerton Area Chamber of Commerce and Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce held at the site.Head Golf Pro Ray Silnik briefly discussed some of the additions to the facility, which include a remodeled upstairs bar and dining area; expanded outdoor seating area; a lower-level Irish pub, and various golf improvements."Business has really picked up," Silnik said. "We're excited this year, and looking forward to next year."Formerly the site of Blue Ridge Country Club, the course has transitioned from private to public.Afterward, Silnik provided a tour of the facilities that was open to chamber members.LANtaAlso at the joint mixer, the chambers heard from Joseph Calhoun, a planner with the Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority.Calhoun shared with chamber members information about LANta and current LANta services in the Greater Northern Lehigh Area, feedback regarding service needs, and strategies to garner feedback from the general public and target populations.He said the LANta Organization is a bi-county municipal authority that was created in 1972 by Lehigh and Northampton counties that provides fixed route LANtaBus, Paratransit (Operated by ECC) LANtaVan, and Carbon County Community Transit.Potential service improvement scenarios include an increased/modified fixed route; the introduction of the LANta Flex model; and a hybrid approach, Calhoun said.With regard to the increased/modified fixed route, Calhoun said past performance has not warranted increases, and may not provide the flexibility needed.He said the introduction of the LANtaFlex model allows flexibility the address nonconcentrated demand, and requires reservations.As for the hybrid approach, he said it would maintain some level of fixed route for highest demand times and locations, and introduce LANtaFlex in addition to the available fixed route.
